Arnold
“ | W-we came here for loot, but what if that piece of paper was all a lie? Maybe we were too naive. | ” |
–Arnold |
Arnold (아놀드, Anoldeu) is a member of the Brotherhood of Iron.
Appearance
Arnold's body is fully robotic, made completely out of bronze metal. Arnold's mechanical lower legs have only two toes. His body is wrapped in grey cloth and he wears a pair of baggy grey pants which recedes into his lower legs. He has a belt with multiple metal packs with wires connected to them. Arnold's right arm has seemingly been replaced by a chainsaw. Arnold's upper body and head are concealed within a hooded cloak, and a single white "eye" is all that can be seen of his head, along with two tubes that run off from between his hood and his cloak. In combat, he uses his chainsaw arm.
Personality
Arnold is relatively focused and goal-driven towards the purpose of making money. However, he is also highly cautious, aware of the dangers of his life, though he tries to stay level-headed.
Story
Background
Mo, Consta, and Arnold are old friends. Like Mo and Consta, Arnold chose to replace his body with a mechanical prosthetic in order to pursue earning money without being distracted by human needs. However, due to the low quality of their bodies (having been made by a cheap workshop,) they are still forced to deal with basic issues such as joint mobility and having to periodically refill their "brain fluid" to stay sharp, as well as being subject to cravings and memories of human experiences they can no longer have. As such, Arnold follows Mo's priority of earning money to purchase a higher-quality body.
The Brotherhood of Iron
As the scene begins, Mo is seen reminding Consta and Arnold to keep their brain fluid filled to better pursue earning money. When asked about the group's next plans, Arnold suggests raiding a workshop for money and technology, and disputes Consta's idea of raiding an Office instead. Arnold further reflects on the high expenses needed to purchase the type of high-quality body they are aiming for, noting that they are almost as expensive as a house in a Nest.
Consta then finds an Invitation stuck in Mo's arm, which Mo did not notice due to his body's lack of senses. The trio then decide to enter the Library. However, Arnold raises doubts about their chances of success, believing that the Invitation is a lie; after meeting Angela, he claims that the Library is a trap set by the rich. Consta follows up with a story he heard about people from the Backstreets being kidnapped by the rich and forced to fight in a labyrinth for the rest of their lives as entertainment. Nevertheless, Mo encourages them not to give up, and they enter their Reception.
Ultimately, Arnold perishes in the Reception along with Mo and Consta, and turns into the Book of Arnold which contains his Key Page.
