Finn
“ | I’m sure I can move to a nicer Office or become an Associate Fixer someday if I keep working hard. Then I might… | ” |
–Finn |
Finn (핀, Pin) is a Grade 9 Fixer of the small Yun’s Office. He first appears in the same Chapter, Episode 1. He works mostly small jobs like looking for lost cats.
Appearance
Finn has short gray hair, light skin, and eyes that are also gray. He wears a black hoodie with two brown cords tied like a bow, over it he wears a gray jacket with long pockets on the arm side, on his lower half Finn wears black trousers and white shoes. On his right side he carries his serrated shortsword on its black sheath which he wields in combat. Despite being 20 years old, he is very short, barely hitting the average height of a small child.
Personality
Finn is a selfless and hopeful optimist, having the hope to become a great fixer for his sister's sake, even though he is labeled as mediocre by Yun, who he sees as a bit cold but kind enough to teach him things, which shows how Finn wants to see the best in people. Finn shows passion about his role as a Fixer but also loyalty to his Office, by choosing to report back to Yun instead of going straight to the Library to acquire its books and the money that could possibly come from the books, for himself.
Story
Finn has been part of the Yun’s Office for a recent, unspecified amount of time, doing small requests like searching for lost cats instead of more combat orientated Fixer work.
In his past, Finn became one of Yun's Fixers with the intent to be able to gather enough money to buy a migration ticket to a Nest for his sister, so she could live a better life. Unfortunately, Finn didn't possess enough raw talent, nor did he accept any body modifications or operations, even though his sister wanted to pay for him. As a result, Finn became a passionate, yet mediocre Grade 9 Fixer, who according to Yun was bound to die sooner or later.
One day, Finn and two other Yun's Fixers were walking around the Backstreets trying to complete the job of looking for a lost cat. As he tried to encourage the two, who were complaining about the office, he discovered the presence of the Red Invitation in his pocket. After reading through it, the two Fixers accompanying Finn decided to sign the Invitation immediately and collect the books to possibly sell to an Association or Syndicate. Finn decides not to go with them and instead goes back to Yun to report about the Library's Invitation.
In the second Episode of Yun’s Office, Finn comes to Yun informing him that the two Fixers that accompanied him haven't returned from the Library, claiming that something must have happened to them. Yun tells him that even if they had just disappeared or run off they are still breaching the contract and will be facing expulsion of his Office and states that there's no proof of the Invitation existing. After hearing this Finn states he has a bad feeling about the situation, but Yun shuts him down, mockingly saying that Finn's "great" Grade 9 Fixer instincts were being wasted on his humble Office. The Operator then states that if he can't find him any proof of the Invitation's existence, they would not look into it since there were other requests they could focus on. With that, Finn asks about the mysterious envelope on his desk. Caught by surprise, Yun questions the young Fixer if such a thing was his doing, and after denying doing anything, Finn is asked to leave the room for a moment. After Finn leaves, Yun makes a call to an unknown individual, asking for them to lend him money, so he could contract people to send to the Library now that he has an Invitation. The person in the other side of the line tells Yun to send someone there again to confirm it before lending any sort of monetary support, with some concern and slight disapproval, Yun sends Finn all alone to the Library using the Invitation on his desk.
After Finn signs the Invitation he is transported to the Library. Upon looking around, he states that if he succeeds, Yun might be able to get a sponsorship from an Association, and he is soon is greeted by Angela. After greeting her back, Finn questions her if the Books in the Library contain a lot of information, she reassures him that they do and that is the exact reason behind him receiving the Invitation.
Eventually, Finn dies in the Reception. Dropping the Book of Finn which contains his Key Page.
