Mo (모, Mo) is a member of the Brotherhood of Iron. Mo first appears in the same Chapter, Episode 1.

Appearance

Mo's body consists of a full robotic prosthetic with grey cloth wrapped around each limb. A pair of black tubes connects from Mo's head to a tank on his back. Mo wears a grey button-up tunic with a crossed black belt, as well as a grey cape.

Personality

Mo is the most driven and focused of the Brotherhood of Iron, reminding his fellow Syndicate members to take care of their robot bodies and focus only on earning money, also encouraging them not to falter in pursuit of this goal. As a result, it also cares little for leisure or enjoyments in life, discarding them as distractions on its single-minded pursuit, though ultimately it does still regret "giving up all the joys of life" to an extent.

Story

Background

Like Consta and Arnold, Mo chose to fully replace its body with a robotic prosthetic in order to be able to pursue earning money with less sensory distractions. However, due to the low quality of their bodies (being cheaply made by a low-grade workshop,) they still suffer from basic issues such as joint mobility and having to periodically refill their "brain fluid" to stay sharp, as well as being subject to cravings and memories of human experiences they can no longer have. As a result, Mo is determined to earn money to eventually purchase a higher-quality body.

The Brotherhood of Iron

As the scene begins, Mo is seen reminding Consta and Arnold to keep their brain fluid filled to better pursue earning money. To become more notorious, Consta suggests raiding an Office while Arnold instead suggests a workshop, but Consta then suggests raiding a restaurant for food. This prompts Mo to remind them that their robotic bodies cannot eat and they only bought them to help them earn money. Mo also reflects on its own human cravings, which its body is also not advanced enough to suppress.

The trio then find an Invitation stuck in Mo's arm, which it did not notice due to its body's lack of senses. They then decide to enter the Library, with Mo encouraging Consta and Arnold to win their Reception for Books and then leave. Though the others quickly become hesitant, especially after meeting Angela, Mo continues to stay confident.

Ultimately, Mo perishes in the Reception along with Consta and Arnold, and turns into the Book of Mo which contains its Key Page.

Mo’s Page

I frankly don’t recommend replacing your entire body with a machine. Especially with a cheap one. Aside from basic issues such as vulnerability to damage and creaky noises, cheap prosthetic bodies compromise too much. You’re basically giving up all the joys of life. Can you imagine? You can’t taste anything when you eat delicious food, and you can’t feel the softness and coziness of a good bed. You can’t feel anything get stuck in your body, be it a piece of paper or a knife. The head remembers those feelings, but you can’t experience them again. There are ways to overcome it, though. You can buy a desire stimulation chip and plug it in your brain, inject medications, or use other methods. They’re just absurdly expensive. You’re better off saving up for a more expensive prosthetic body if you really want your senses back. High quality, pricey bodies come with sensory organs. As I always say, it’s all about money in this world.
