Pete
“ | You know my dream, right? To become one of the Fingers of the Backstreets. | ” |
–Pete |
Pete (피트, Piteu) is a Rat who appears in the same Chapter, Episode 1. He acts as the leader of his own group of Rats, with Lenny and Mang-chi.
Appearance
He has ruff dark hair, dark skin, and black eyes. He wears a gray jacket with white fur around the neck, a collar of beads around his neck, a tainted green shirt with white words on it spelling 'Rock Festiv-' being cut out, blue pants with various red belts, and white shoes. In combat, he wields an army/combat knife.
Personality
Pete is gruff and the most foul-mouthed of the trio of his group. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and do anything possible to chase his dream of becoming one of the Fingers.
A risk-taker, he tries to use all the options available for obtaining a good payment, climb higher the positions, and join a better Syndicate. He is aware of the many rumors of the Backstreets and can spot when things are very uncommon to just be actions of other groups.
Story
Pete has been part of the Rats for an unknown amount of time, working in gut-harvestings with his members of the group, Lenny and Mang-chi.
Pete has a dream of becoming part of one of the Fingers of the City, the Syndicates that rule the Backstreets. Although he is aware that having a silly dream will probably do nothing with his petty skills, he desires to have one anyway.
He seems that has convinced Mang-chi and Lenny in helping him to reach that dream, with Mang-chi being the most willing to help him. However, they still face the reality of having to work to pay their debts to other Syndicates and avoid the Offices and Associations that guard certain areas.
During a gut-harvesting, Pete, Lenny, and Mang-chi were almost caught by the Zwei Association. Forcing Lenny to take out the organs of a harvested body, they manage to escape before the Association members arrive. Back in their hideout, Pete and the others check the guts of the harvested body, thinking that once they sell them and pay the
Stray Dogs, they will finally join an
Urban-Legend Syndicate. But soon Pete points out that the organs are very damaged to be sold for any profit, something that Lenny tried to tell him. Mang-chi says that there a tattoo of an orange round symbol on the back of its neck, which were of something that they haven't heard of yet, and with the time they have, there wouldn't be enough for another gut-harvesting trip.
Lenny presents the Invitation that she found inside the body to Pete and then after knowing of the Library, they decide to continue there, because else the Stray Dogs or the
Zwei who seems to still be in their pursuit will kill them anyway. All the members sign the envelope and then are transported to the Library. Pete remarks how the Library is fancier than he expected, and soon they are greeted by Angela. Pete asks if they really can take any of the Books, which Angela replies that they must 'gain' them. Mang-chi hesitates, doubting at the worth of the Books, but Pete tells them that beggars can't be choosers and need to take this opportunity.
Eventually, Pete along the rest of the Rats dies in the Reception.

Trivia
- Pete's sprite sheet in the Library Of Ruina Art Book does not include his moving sprite. As such, the one below was assembled via comparison to the in-game sprite.
- The seventh sprite (second from bottom right) in this sprite sheet does not seem to be used in-game.
- Although Pete has distinct sprites for Slash dice, Pierce dice, and Blunt dice, he does not ever use the Blunt die sprite. For both Bite Off and Backstreets Dash, Pete uses the Pierce die sprite, and for Dirty Blow, Pete uses the Slash die sprite, despite none of his Combat Pages having Slash dice.
- The same is not true of Librarians who have Pete’s Page equipped; in this circumstance, the Librarians will use Pete's Blunt die sprite for Combat Pages with Blunt dice, but will use Pete's Pierce die sprite for both Slash dice and Pierce dice.
