Story
Background
San has been a Fixer of eight years and has spent an unknown period of time as the creator and Operator of Streetlight Office.
San grew up in the Backstreets of District 21 with his friend Isadora, he used to "train" himself so he "doesn't lag behind" and although being a coward San would try facing his fears and put himself in dangerous situations, only to end up running back to Isadora. When they were kids, the two of them hanged out until dark one day and almost got themselves into a dangerous situation, San having to pick up a stick from the floor and stand his ground with his shaky legs to protect himself and Isadora from an unknown threat. Later in life, San joins an Office along with his childhood friend, there they met Julia in their first day; all of them having recently become Fixers, the three quickly befriended one another. After an unknown amount of time San left his first Office and created his own, the Streetlight Office, which in no time became an Affiliate Office of the
Zwei Association, the same Association his two friends joined. San ended up recruting two Fixers for his Office, Lulu and Mars, who usually got into petty arguments. Together the three keep peace in a two blocks' area on an unspecified location in the City and following other types of orders from the
Zwei Association.
Streetlight Office
In the first Episode of Streetlight Office, Mars and Lulu are in their office, with Lulu starting to wonder why their Office is unpopular with clients even when they are affiliated with the
Zwei and have a 0% crime rate in their secured areas, with Mars pointing out that they just cover two blocks of space. Regardless, they will get work eventually but Lulu is thinking in moving to other Office if they keep waiting. Mars says that he doesn't think she has what it takes to work for a bigger Office, but Lulu respond that she has business connections. She then brings up that his Legendary Fixer mother is too busy while Lulu has friends who can help her. Mars sarcastically replies she is a great Fixer, and Lulu just digs on it.
San arrives afterwards with work, while Lulu starts to argue with Mars because he disposed of her cake of the fridge, saying that it already expired. After San settles in buying another cake for Lulu, he talks about their unofficial work from a friend in the Association. Lulu ask if is the Fixer who works directly under the Association and San confirms it. San explains that this task has yet to be officially addressed by the Hana Association, asking soon after if they know about the Library. Mars and Lulu knows some stories of it that were overheard from the Rats, saying that had very valuable books. San then tells that he retrieved an invitation from his friend, although they start to question the risk of it as they don't know much about it and will not count for their carreer, as well they might not gain as much money even with San saying that his Associate friend will promise for an Urban-Legend payment. San start to cave in that was a bad idea afterall, but Mars and Lulu agree in going, now that they need money, and will do their best.
After signing the Invitation and entering the Library, Mars and Lulu begin to argue again over taking the work. San has to interrupt and settle them down again by offering to eat in Juli's restaurant once is over and that he will pay for. Afterwards, Angela arrives and notes the conversation of them. They get wary but Angela reassures that the ordeal hasn't started yet. She present herself and San greets her, asking that if they are still able to enter since he borrowed the Invitation from someone else. Angela clarify that it eventually reached to him and they signed it with their names, so it worked as intended. Angela leaves but Lulu notices that she wasn't human, but a machine. San reminds them to stay aware and back up when gets too dangerous, and the fixers enter the Library.
On the second Episode of Streetlight Office, Lulu and San managed to escape from the Library, but Mars died during the Reception. Back in the Office, they are both mourning their death with San blaming himself for taking the work and going to the Library. He says it was out of their abilities and he already sent a report to the Zwei. Lulu reacts harshly, asking about Mars and if his death was pointless. San continues to feel regret and let Lulu blame him all she wants. Lulu goes to check the fridge and notices a cake, and asks if he bought it. San tells that he didn't buy any cake, then Lulu says she is going outside for a bit.
Lulu cries in the streets under the rain, as she remembers Mars, that wasn't like he would buy cake for others, that he bragged of his sword that was a gift of her mother, and that he would become like her. Lulu suddenly receives an invitation that includes in it the Book of Mars. Realizing what happens to the people who die there, she settles in avenge him but cannot go for San to help. She decides to go by herself with some of her friends to help her out. Lulu ends up dying in the reception alone.
Zwei Association
The First Episode of Zwei begins with San heading to the Zwei Association, Section 6; to talk with a pair of Fixers, Julia and Isadora, who are part of the Association. The conversation starts out with San telling the two that his colleagues, Lulu and Mars, have died on their mission to The Library. His only request to them is for the Zwei Association to help him retrieve their books, if that's the least they could do. Isadora immediately treats San with backlash, telling him that barge in into the HQ to beg for help isn't the best way to get help. However, Julia opposes Isadora, and suggests that they let their superiors have a review of the case. Soon after, we learn that Julia has a friendship with San; Isadora tells her that they shouldn't act on attachment nor friendship, lest it lead to their system collapsing -And others begging and asking for their help.
Isadora reminds Julia again that the records show that this case shows up nowhere in the Zwei records, due to perhaps taking it as an unofficial work and if San wants them to go to the Library to try and get the Books back, then she wants him to pay a corresponding reward for the mission, and that San has used the association as much as the association has used him. It also becomes known that San, Isadora, and Julia all used to work in the same Office together in the past.
After a few more arguments, Isadora gets a notification of the news that the Library has been moved up from Urban Myth to
Urban Legend by the Hana Association, and that the library is now a good case for them to officially take on. They get the invitation from San and send some Zwei Crewmembers to go to the Library.
In the Second Episode of Zwei begins with Isadora telling Julia and San that they are in the lineup of the search team for the library. Julia is happy to go to the library, and says that they should go retrieve the books of Mars and Lulu and come back safely. Isadora also jumps in to add that even though they should always stay on their objective, they still need to collect as much information as possible (Collect as many books as they can. San then decides to ask Isadora that of all the things that they could do, why are they sending a search team to enter the library; Isadora snaps back and asks San why he came begging to them in the first place. San responds that this place was the only one that he could count on. She also asks him about his younger brother, but he refuses to answer.
Soon, Isadora decides to tell San and Julia about the Distortion Phenomenon, which is classified as an Urban Nightmare. The Distortion phenomenon is an anomaly that has been happening throughout the city ever since the White Nights and Dark Days; this phenomenon turns people into monsters at random, and each occurrence is worse to deal with than the last. This is where we get our first look at "The Pianist", where in its first case alone caused the death of 80% of District 9's population. They had to immediately send in a colored fixer in order to gain control of the situation after they realized how severe the situation was. They have almost no clues whatsoever to track down the cause of the phenomenon; however, the most information they have on it so far revolves around the sudden disappearance of L Corp, and the White Nights and Dark Days that started in the corporation's nest. Isadora claims that the Zwei Association have a hunch that the Library might be one of the keys to understanding this phenomenon.
Julia tells Isadora that a coworker told her about a similar story, where a resident in the area they were peacekeeping transformed into a beast without any warning whatsoever. They managed to take care of that case before the death toll could reach double digits. Another incident involved a restaurant clerk turning into a man-eating sandwich monster. Isadora reassures Julia and San that there hasn't been any cases of the phenomenon that has been nearly as dangerous as the Pianist for now, they thank Isadora for the information before heading to the Library.
Upon reaching the Library's entrance, Julia comments how the transportation method used by the Invitation seems akin to something a Singularity would be capable of, then San mentions how the Director of the Library will soon arrive to greet them with Angela showing up moments after. The Office Operator stats that with this reception they wish to retrieve the books of Mars and Lulu, Angela affirms that both items can be found in the Library. Finally, Julia inquires Angela about if one really can retrieve the books upon coming out victorious in Reception and if one does really turn into a book by failing, the Library Director confirms her suspicions and invites them in.
Eventually, San finally perishes in the Reception along with Julia and some Zwei Fixers, and he turns into the Book of San which contains his Key Page.
