Story
Pre-Battle
The episode starts off at an unknown part of the Backstreets as Argalia (with Eileen by his side) casually tells his "friends" not to get too excited, seeing his other "friend" Thelma, the manager of the Shi Southern Branch, in tears. After all, as he tells Thelma, the worst is yet to come.
Seen from Thelma's perspective: The Smiling Faces slowly slice apart Thelma's body while Argalia and Eileen watch
Jin pipes up with a laugh, telling Thelma that their pipe's smoke is dulling his pain. Jin and Wang laugh about Thelma's terror. Wang mentions that he has "flaked" off Thelma's flesh 1,347 times, and asks Argalia how many more cuts he wants them to inflict. Argalia orders them to cut up Thelma ten thousand times, supposedly as punishment for breaking his promise. Suddenly, Jin interrupts to call out Mi for eating the flesh slices ahead of time, though Wang tells Jin to calm down.
Argalia admonishes Thema for failing to fulfill their deal, having done so well until the very end. Mi ungags Thelma because Argalia wants to hear what he has to say. Thelma immediately starts cursing at Argalia for assigning him an "impossible task" to begin with. Disappointed, Argalia criticizes Thelma for not using Shi South Section 1 alongside Section 2. Thelma forced Section 2 to finish all of Argalia's orders so that he could kill off the Fixers who were trying to depose him, the result being that he couldn't finish all of Argalia's orders in time after Section 2 was defeated in the Library. Thelma is outraged because Argalia was the one who hinted for him to use Section 2, but Argalia casually says that Thelma was never forced to use only them. Thelma changes tactics, threatening that if he is killed, the Shi Association and even the Hana Association will hunt Argalia down. He starts to crack near the end, begging for a second chance.
Argalia laughs at Thelma, mocking him for his stubborn refusal to apologize. He tells Thelma not to "worry" about him, as Thelma hasn't noticed one crucial fact (which Mi notes is more because he is blindfolded than anything else): they are in the Backstreets of District 23 and it is the Night in the Backstreets. Argalia straightforwardly tells Thelma his fate: he will simply die and disappear from the City, with no one the wiser to how it happened or who killed him. Thelma, now horrified, breaks down in tears, apologizes for his failure, and begs to be spared.
The Smiling Faces ask Argalia whether they should stop what they are doing. Seeing that Argalia does not answer them immediately, Thelma begs for his life, swearing never to disobey Argalia again. Argalia pretends to be touched for a second before revealing that Thelma's pleas were worthless: Argalia intended to have him killed from the start. He mockingly says that he will take Thelma's apology to heart. Sentenced to a torturous death, Thelma screams and curses at Argalia before the Smiling Faces gag and mock him. Argalia orders the Smiling Faces to enter the Library after they "take care" of Thelma, handing them an Invitation before he and Eileen leave.
After watching the encounter, Roland and Angela comment on how Argalia has managed to win over Eileen, other Distortions, and even the Smiling Faces. They discuss Argalia's designation as a Color Fixer, one of the highest ranking and most powerful Fixers in the City, and what it means to be a Color. They then compare the Red Mist and the Blue Reverberation before Angela wonders if they might eventually get Argalia's book. Roland believes it is possible, and that the City would be better off without Argalia wreaking havoc.
Once the Smiling Faces arrive, they are astonished at the appearance of the Library, surprised that Argalia correctly predicted that the Book of Yujin would be available; Jin even states that "[e]verything's goin' as he says." Angela sends them off to their reception afterwards.
Post-Battle
Once the reception is finished, Roland and Angela briefly wonder about what the Blue Reverberation could be looking for. Roland doesn't know the answer, noting that the truth is probably far beyond their expectations.
