Angela! You have a guest waiting at the door!

–Iori

The reception of The Purple Tear is the reception of the Color Fixer Iori. It is a one-Act reception with up to three Floors of five Librarians each available for use, making up the last guest encounter on the center-left column of StarCityIcon.png Star of the City.

Overview

Story

For a transcript, see The Purple Tear Episode 1.

Pre-Battle

Argalia is seen conversing with a mysterious older woman dressed in purple, trying to convince her to join the Ensemble. It is then revealed that this woman is Iori, better known as the Purple Tear, and she is a person capable of warping and treading through dimensions through mysterious means, in order to find her long-lost son. Argalia thanks her for the help in assisting and honing his skills to become a Color fixer, but questions why she went through the trouble of helping him. After a (poor) attempt at trying to convince Argalia of herself being a fool, she confesses and she wanted to use him in an attempt to find her son. Argalia continues to comment on his progression of his ensemble, before revealing his ulterior motive: killing Iori.

Using Pluto's ability to seal off the area, Argalia corners Iori, along with his Ensemble of Distortions. Iori comments on each one, referring to them by the instrument she believes they represent. After the ensemble introduce themselves, she pulls out a slip of paper. Before she enters the Library, Argalia asks her a question: "Can you not hear her mesmerizing voice?"

Iori teleports away without giving an answer.

Back at the Library, Roland, and in particular, Angela, seem distressed over the newfound imagery of the Blue Reverberation gaining a now 10-men Band. Furthermore, Angela seems to be concerned on their goal to use the light which aligns with her goal. The two take note on the Reverberation Ensemble's goals being much different than any other guest who were simply in it to uphold their status in the City.

As Iori cuts to the chase when greeting Angela, Angela seems particularly curious as to why the grand Purple Tear would help the Library; Iori simply insist to Angela to book her to get the answer though she won't back down easily.

Formation

Stageplay

In combat, Iori has two notable features. The first is her use of Stances: Iori has four separate sets of Combat Pages each focused on one type of Combat Dice, which she may regularly switch between throughout the reception. The second feature is the Passive Ability SkillOrangeIcon.png Dimension-walker, which allows Iori to suddenly shift from one Floor to another after she is reduced to 350 HP. This will cause some changes to her overall Stance and Combat Page use, which will be covered below.

Stances

Iori uniquely uses four different Stances, as stated by the Passive Ability SkillOrangeIcon.png Changing Stances: this means that Iori has four separate decks, each of which focuses on one specific type of Combat Dice. Every two Scenes, Iori will randomly change from one Stance to another and also gain a Status Effect which buffs the current die type (plus visually changing her pose). For the first Scene after a Stance change, she will also have 1 count of either SlashIcon.pngSlash Power-Up, PierceIcon.pngPierce Power-Up, BluntIcon.pngBlunt Power-Up, or DefenseIcon.pngDefense Power-Up.

Each of Iori's four Stances has an associated Status Effect and buff (separate from the one-Scene Power buff). They are as follows:

  • SlashingStanceIcon.pngSlashing Stance: Slash Dice Power +2. Deal 50% additional damage with attacks.
  • PiercingStanceIcon.pngPiercing Stance: Pierce Dice Power +2. When inflicting status ailments using Combat Pages, apply twice as many stacks.
  • BluntingStanceIcon.pngBlunting Stance: Blunt Dice Power +2. Deal 50% additional Stagger damage with attacks.
  • GuardingStanceIcon.pngGuarding Stance: Defensive Dice Power +2. Remove all status ailments.

While not specified by the effect text, the additional damage buffs of Slashing Stance and Blunting Stance only apply to Slash and Blunt dice, respectively.

Dimension-walker

Iori's Passive Ability SkillOrangeIcon.png Dimension-walker will trigger once she is reduced to HPIcon.png 350 HP. The Scene after this occurs, she will forcefully teleport to another Floor, ending the current stageplay and continuing the Act on that Floor instead. The Floor she switches to will count as the second of the three Floors used for the reception, but there is no issue using the first Floor again if the second Floor is defeated by Iori. Iori can teleport to any Floor except the ChesedIcon.pngFloor of Social Sciences or the HokmaIcon.pngFloor of Religion.

After the teleportation, Iori's combat behavior will also change. She will now switch Stances every Scene instead of every two Scenes, meaning that she will always have a +1 Power buff for her current Stance. Iori will also use Mirage Storm on the first Scene after the teleportation, and will reuse it every three Scenes afterwards.

Combat Info

Iori
Iori starts the reception with four Speed Dice. On the third Scene, she will gain one Speed Die for a total of five dice slots. As stated above, Iori changes her Stance every two Scenes and has a different deck associated with each Stance:
  • SlashingStanceIcon.pngSlashing Stance: Serpent Sword Technique ×2, Violet Blade ×2, Snake Slit ×2
  • PiercingStanceIcon.pngPiercing Stance: Snake’s Prey ×2, Laceration ×2, Venomous Fangs ×2
  • BluntingStanceIcon.pngBlunting Stance: Strike Down ×2, Great Serpent’s Impact ×2, Duel ×2
  • GuardingStanceIcon.pngGuarding Stance: Serpentine Barrier ×2, Parry ×2, Identify Weakpoint

Once SkillOrangeIcon.png Dimension-walker is activated, Iori will also gain a copy of Mirage Storm every three Scenes, as stated above. See the deck section below for the full list of Iori's Combat Pages.

Combat Dialogue
Iori has special dialogue if she fights against Roland, Gebura, or Binah.
Combat Entrance
  • Well, then… Shall I test your skills?
  • I wonder how big the Library has gotten.
  • Since we have the time, let’s slowly warm up.
Victory Cry
  • I was hoping for more, but I guess you weren’t at that point yet…
  • That was pretty fun. Buuut… I guess you aren’t quite there yet.
Death
  • Good… You’re growing strong, slowly but steadily.
On Kill
  • You still haven’t figured yourself out, have you?
  • Hm, that was below my expectations.
  • You’ve done an excellent job holding out against me for so long. Too bad, though.
  • You should be better prepared the next time we meet, kid?
  • You’re pretty good. It’s been a long time since I got so much pressure in a fight.
  • My, and you sounded so confident… Is this really the best you could do?

Combat Entrance
  • Uh-uh, stay still, and don’t peep a word.
  • You’re doing pretty alright, I see.
Victory Cry
  • Was that really your best?
Death
  • …Yeah. You’ve shown me that sending you here was worth my while.

Special Event
  1. C’mon, now… You’ve gotten a lot softer.

Special Event line notes

  1. Used if Iori kills Roland.
Combat Entrance
  • I can’t really consider you to be the same being that Kali was, can I?
  • Let’s see if you remember my teachings… Care to show me?
Victory Cry
  • Kali. Your pupils were certainly a bit tricky to deal with.
Death
  • You remember it well…

Special Event
  1. Figured your strength wouldn’t be the same as before…

Special Event line notes

  1. Used if Iori kills Gebura.
Combat Entrance
  • Well… It’s no surprise that you’re here.
  • I’ve seen you a few times before, so…
Victory Cry
  • Even with a being like that, there was no difference.
Death
  • Haha… Interesting for sure…

Special Event
  1. I thought things would be different this time.

Special Event line notes

  1. Used if Iori kills Binah.
