The Mock Exam

The Mock Exam is a Distortion that appears in chapter 5 of Distortion Detective. It manifested in a high school inside N Corp's Nest.

Different from most Distortions, this one wasn't manifested by a single person but by several students in a school, causing the school itself to become distorted. All the students become amalgamations of numbers in school uniforms and the teachers become disembodied voices who force the students to take nonsensical tests. Anyone who stays in the corridors while the tests are occurring is determined to be a student who didn't study and is targeted by a moving wall with a math problem written on it. Those who do not solve it are knocked unconscious and moved to a classroom to take the tests.

When the "Mock Exam" starts, the school crumbles with only the students remaining in a white plain. Soon after a tall staircase will rise from the middle of the field with a trophy at the top. All the students will rush at it and climb it, eventually starting to kill each other just to reach the trophy. When a remaining student finally reaches it, the school will go back to normal as if nothing happened. The students who were killed in the numerical massacre will also come back, but they will only have blank stares and mutter meaningless words.

This is one of the few cases Moses and Erza weren't able to solve. Because of that, the exam still repeats itself inside the school to this day.
