Location: The Library - Floor of Language
Why should I begrudge it, since during the hours—
When my soul crushed the depths of my heart,
It was seated there beside me?
Library Director Angela
How do you find this occasion, Gebura?
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
I guess my past self in Lobotomy Corp. wasn’t too different from Roland just now.
Library Director Angela
Not quite. I saw you run amok in a blind fury countless times back then, and I can say that this wasn’t like those past moments.
Library Director Angela
And it’s not quite the same as me, either.
Servant Roland
Uh, hey, both of you… Is that supposed to be some backhanded mockery?
Library Director Angela
Not at all.
Library Director Angela
…Are you feeling alright?
Servant Roland
I feel… relieved, but something feels kinda off and awkward about it. At least my body’s all fine.
Library Director Angela
That’s good. Get back to your work once you’ve taken your time recovering from the aftermath.
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
…Well, don’t mind it too much. We all have our humiliating moments.
Servant Roland
That doesn’t make this any less awkward, man.
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
Roland. I well understand where your anger comes from.
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
But wrath is like a blade with the sharpest edge. If you aren’t careful with wielding it, you might end up cutting yourself before you even realize it.
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
So it’s important to hold that blade correctly.
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
And the next step would be deciding where to point your sharp blade.
Servant Roland
You’re right, I gotta be careful not to cut myself with it.
Servant Roland
Although… I already knew where to point my blade from the start.
Servant Roland
That’s that, and this is this.
Patron Librarian - Language Gebura
…Want a cig?
Servant Roland
Fine. Just for today.
Trivia
- The lines recited by Roland at the start of the episode are the second stanza of the poem "Prière pour aimer la douleur" by Francis Jammes, using a translation by Chi-young Kim for The Investigation by J.M. Lee. The usage of this poem continues through the story, in episodes where Roland's past is relevant.
- There exist unused files with alternate takes of two of Gebura's voice lines. They can be heard here and here.
