Servant Roland
Damn, check out how orderly these books are organized. The compulsion is almost scaring me at this point.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Your clothes are still slovenly.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
(He straightens Roland’s attire once again.)
Servant Roland
I appreciate it, but it feels kinda awkward to be honest.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Proper attitude of the mind begins with a well-conducted body.
Servant Roland
Well, I guess I should say thanks.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
What is your business this time?
Servant Roland
Nothing unusual. Got some books to deliver, and some questions to ask.
Servant Roland
Heard from Malkuth that the librarians here used to be humans long ago. Is that true?
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
…It is.
Servant Roland
Were you all seasoned brawlers in your past lives, then? Like the ringleaders of Syndicates?
Servant Roland
Although, my intuition as a Fixer is telling me otherwise.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Your observation would be correct. None of us lived such a violent life.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Save for a couple of exceptions, that is.
Servant Roland
Knew it. How are you so skillful at dealing with guests, though?
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
It’s thanks to the books. We gain the powers of the previous guests through their books.
Servant Roland
Oh, so that’s why you guys seemed to grow sorta stronger with every book I gave you.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
In the Library, books act as a source of power. Emotions can do the same.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Through the books, we can imbue our own bodies with the senses and strengths that were engraved in other’s bodies.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Moreover, the Library can amplify the emotions of its denizens; it acts upon visitors and residents alike.
Servant Roland
Wow, these “books” are a lot more impressive than I thought.
Servant Roland
Heck, they might even be better than the surgeries and tools most workshops have to offer. Information is one thing, but this could be a real moneymaker.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
You think in secular terms.
Servant Roland
Call it the pathetically tearful survival instincts of a man who’s lived most of his life in poverty, will ya?
Servant Roland
Anyways, that’s all for my questions. Thanks for your kind answers.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Don’t mistake this for kindness.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
I do not particularly think highly of you. You’re nothing more than Angela’s little lapdog.
Lapdog Roland
What? Hey, that’s rude! You know I didn’t take this job by my choice.
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Does that necessarily exempt you from guiltiness, however?
Patron Librarian - Tech. Sciences Yesod
Now, if you’re done with your errands, kindly take your leave now.
Lapdog Roland
That little piece of !#@$!#…
